Description

·         Installs, inspects, repairs, modifies and maintains EnergySolutions site/facility wiring, motors, transformers, generators, lighting, appliances, circuits and other electrical systems in compliance with electrical codes, standards and regulations. Performs work on all types of power and control jobs ranging from minor convenience power devices to major equipment and power/control installations.

·         Assembles, installs, inspects, tests, repairs and maintains electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances and fixtures at an EnergySolutions site/facility using hand tools and power tools. Inspects electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustments or repairs and to ensure compliance with codes. These tasks are necessary to ensure smooth company operations and compliance with company policies and codes, standards and regulations.

·         Diagnoses malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

·         Advises management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

·         Uses a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including multi-meters, ammeters and test lamps.

·         Studies plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and the sequence of repairs and/or installations.

·         Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.

·         Prepares sketches and follows blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.

·         Reads and interprets schematics, blueprints, equipment manuals and sketches and solves complex math problems while adhering to numerous electrical and building codes.

·         Performs new electrical service installation for site improvements.

·         Performs physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.

·         Constructs and fabricates parts. Installs ground leads and connects power cables to equipment. Fastens small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches/outlets.

·         Provides preliminary cost estimates for materials and services.

·         Provides assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights and generators, placing flares and driving vehicles.

·         May lead and direct the work of an Electrician 1 and 2.

·         Provides training to Electrician 1 and 2 staff as needed and reviews the work of others as needed.

·         Responsible for ensuring Electrician 1 and 2 staff are qualified to perform their work.

·         Responsible for the safety performance of electrician staff.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

·         Basic knowledge of the use of computers and some data entry software experience

·         Desire to gain professional experience and learn new things

·         A can-do attitude (no job is too big or too small)

·         Detailed  knowledge of applicable codes, standards and regulations

·         Detailed knowledge of variable frequency drives and programmable logic controls

·         Detailed knowledge of electrical applications for high- and low-voltage electrical systems

·         Detailed knowledge of instrumentation and process control, site processes and demonstrated project management skills

·         Working knowledge of site processes, strong troubleshooting skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·         Demonstrated ability to install, repair and maintain all types of electrical system equipment and components

·         Demonstrated ability to design and develop plans for electrical processes at facilities and  to develop layouts for electrical equipment and to support bid efforts

Minimum Qualifications and Years of Experience

Education

·         Bachelor's degree preferred in electrical engineering or equivalent experience

·         Completion of a four-year federally approved technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance required

 

Certifications

·         National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) or International Society of Automation (ISA) certification as required by work location

·         License obtained through the Department of Professional Licensing

 

Required Experience

·         A minimum of 2 years of experience as a journeyman electrician
