Description

Responsible for supporting operation and maintenance of automated production equipment in a production oriented facility. The Maintenance function includes service, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of all production and facility support equipment.

Job Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities

·         Demonstrates and applies knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance functions. This includes understanding the materials required for maintaining each equipment area, their general functions for logical scheduling purposes, standard repair procedures, and the significance of accurate and timely processing of work orders within these areas.

·         Troubleshoots with a focus on development of a repair procedure, must be able to identify the needed parts and tools to perform all needed tasks. Must have the ability to communicate these needs in order to facilitate the procurement of the parts.

·         Works with others when problem-solving and repairing or working within their area.

·         Develops knowledge of the maintenance work order system to provide the required information for submittal and closure of work orders.

·         Demonstrates a desire to continuously improve and learn new skills that add value to the business process.

·         Demonstrates the ability to operate, inspect, diagnose and repair vehicles and other mobile equipment.

·         Reports defects and damages to supervision.

·         Tests and makes adjustments to mechanical components and equipment after repairs or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications and company safety standards.

·         Uses a number of sophisticated tools including electrical, hydraulic and engine testing and diagnostic equipment; welding torches; jacks; hoists and hand tools (e.g., wrenches). Uses computer systems to help diagnose the cause of some problems with heavy equipment.

·         Fuels and lubricates equipment and performs preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

·         Communicates with the leaders regarding parts and repair orders.

·         Performs scheduled preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.

·         Minimizes machine downtime by troubleshooting and resolving mechanical and basic electrical issues.

·         Demonstrates a strong focus by applying the highest level of service to internal customers through work order processing.

·         Must be able to work independently and resolve practical problems.

·         Must complete required training and certification for the Maintenance area in accordance with the Maintenance progression process for a technician.  This includes participating in new employee safety training, basic skills training, equipment specific training, material handling equipment, and team building exercises.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Required and Desired Skills

·         Analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills. (Mechanical and Electrical)

·         Ability to work together with other technicians to diagnose routine and complex issues related to repair/service scheduling, tools required for mechanical repairs, generate potential solutions based on mechanical knowledge and make repairs as required

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills

·         Strong interpersonal skills and team player attitude

·         Basic understanding of electrical systems, PLCs (programmable logic controllers), HMI’s (Human machine interfaces)and/or other drives

 

Minimum Qualifications and Years of Experience

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements

Education

·         High School diploma or GED

·         Vocational training, certification, and/or minimum of five (5) years related experience in basic mechanics

·         Documented training and certification in electrical troubleshooting and repair

 

Certifications

·         Valid driver’s license or eligible to get a valid state drivers license

·         State Electrical License or equivalent preferred

 

Required Experience

·         A minimum of 5 years of experience in basic mechanics and electrical systems

·         Experience interpreting drawings, diagrams and schematics. (electrical, pneumatic, and other controls)
