Responsible for the effective implementation of a proactive maintenance program for the Bear Creek, Gallaher Road and Heritage Rail Yard facilities. Provides guidance and support for maintenance and facility personnel. Provides technician training and resources that focus on safety and quality. Oversees the management of quality records, drawings and OEM documents associated with all process equipment. Provides technical support to all areas of maintenance and operations. Reviews and provides input on equipment specific procedures. Works with department leaders to ensure company profitability and viability in the marketplace.  Ensures that facility meets all operational and security specifications and Department of Energy (DOE) requirements. Provides guidance for process and systems testing and verification, acceptance of facility for operations and start-up and continuing operations. Participates in the management of capital projects to include equipment selection, procurement and installation. Reviews and approves non-standard material documents associated with potential mechanical and stored energy hazards.

Job Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities

·         Provides guidance and over sight for the development of procedures, job hazards analysis and process hazards analysis.

·         Implements a developmental and questioning approach to pre-job, post-job and take two briefings to ensure all hazards are identified and eliminated.

·         Develops and implements strategies, plans and programs to meet corporate strategic objectives.

·         Provides vision and direction to facility maintenance and warehousing teams to help meet company objectives and adherence to core values.

·         Performs quality review of records that are being committed to the Onbase system.

·         Allocates resources to meet production support requirements.

·         Works with production groups to improve safe and effective operation of plant equipment.

·         Develops budgets and control costs to meet budget constraints.

·         Integrates operations and maintenance activities.

·         Oversees maintenance and warehouse activities.

·         Ensures compliance EnergySolutions Bear Creek conduct of operations.

·         Provides operability input to design.

·         Ensures regulatory compliance with all applicable state and federal radiological, environmental, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and other oversight groups.

·         Ensures daily meetings are conducted in a manner that encourages employee engagement, discussions on safety and compliance.

·         Approves, monitors and adjusts warehouse stock levels to minimize tax liability.

·         Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system to implement a predictive and preventive maintenance program.

·         Ensures employees are assigned and completing required training.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

·         Detailed understanding of fire suppression and alarm systems required

·         General understanding required of NFPA life safety code requirements

·         General understanding of ventilation and air filtration systems required

·         Working knowledge of NFPA codes, specifically 70E, 801, 72, 17

·         General knowledge of basic millwright principles

·         Working knowledge of Welding codes and standards

·         Detailed knowledge of company business environment, customers and decision makers

·         Strong Analytical skills

·         Strong background using Infor MP2 maintenance management system

·         Familiarity with the use of SAP for procurement, inventory control, maintenance scheduling and maintenance management.

·         Strong background using Oracle E-Business Suite

·         Ability to communicate effectively (creating and delivering presentations)

·         Strong interpersonal and management skills, including the ability to work effectively to manage support professionals, managers and personnel

·         Strong leadership skills

·         Ability to plan, organize and manage group goals and priorities

·         Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·         Ability to work well under stress

·         Experience using LMS/ES Academy to ensure employees and contractors are trained and qualified

Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions

·         Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and environments wherein there is exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, chemicals and mechanical and electrical hazards

·         Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

·         Ability to use hands and feet to accomplish tasks as assigned

·         Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend/stoop, crouch, squat/kneel, twist at the waist and balance

·         Ability to effectively communicate; speaking, reading, understanding, writing and hearing clear English; pass audiogram in hearing conservation program as required by location

·         Ability to see close and distance, and basic colors/shades

·         Ability to work inside an office, outside, and in extreme temperatures

·         Ability to work with power tools, moving objects/hazardous machines, and slippery/uneven walking surfaces

·         Ability to work in a Radiological environment; ability to wear chemical resistant coveralls and work around ionizing radiation

·         Ability to work alone, work with others, and interact with the public; ability to perform under deadline pressure and drive a vehicle


Minimum Qualifications and Years of Experience


·         Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience


·         A valid driver’s license with a clean record required

·         Evidence of insurability required


Required Experience

·         10 years of experience in maintenance management or related field

·         5 years of operational experience at the Bear Creek facility

·         Experience with electrical applications and human machine interface equipment

·         Experience in fluid dynamics

·         Experience with thermal systems and heat transfer


Preferred Experience      

·         Steam distribution control and condensate systems

·         Operations of Induction melt furnaces
