Performs a wide range of facility, equipment, and machine operations associated with a site program/project/function. May specialize in one area but will gain knowledge and skills to be productive in multiple areas. Ensures compliance with EnergySolutions’ policies and procedures and with local, state and federal regulations.

Job Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities

·        Safely operates a variety of equipment: (1) hand and power tools; (2) light, medium and heavy weight equipment; (3) cranes; (4) and tractor-trailers.

·        Utilizes tractor-trailers to transport HAZMAT and NON-HAZMAT within the local area.

·        Receives oral and/or written instructions from supervisors. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and operational procedures.

·        Generates/reviews shipping documentation and performs data entry.

·        Applies applicable markings, labels, and placards to packages.

·        Inspects and loads packages on outgoing shipments. Unloads and inspects packages on incoming shipments. Electronically tracks packages from arrival through departure.

·        Complies with all requirements for wearing personal protective equipment while performing job duties.

·        Participates in procedure development and revision, job hazard analysis, and safety walk-downs as applicable.


Job Requirements

o   Minimum of 5 years verifiable over-the-road CDL driving experience

o   Must be a US Citizen

o   Must have CDL with HAZMAT and tanker endorsements, or capable of obtaining tanker endorsement

o   No more than 3 minor violations, including accidents, on MVR in the past 3 years

o   No major traffic violations in the past 5 years

o   Not convicted of a felony in the past 10 years

o   Must pass DOT pre-employment drug screen

o   Must pass DOT pre-employment physical

o   Must have satisfactory results from third-party background investigation

o   Previous positive drug or alcohol screen will be disqualifying

o   Ability to pass all regulatory and EnergySolutions’ required training

o   Ability to tarp and secure cargo

o   Must have flatbed experience

·        Ability to read and interpret documents

·        Basic written, verbal, and organizational skills

·        Ability to comprehend procedures and work instructions

·        Strong interpersonal skills and team player attitude

·        Ability to understand and apply health and safety regulations and requirements

·        Basic computer skills

·        Strong attention to detail

·        Capable of qualifying for a DOE Security Clearance


Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions

·        Ability to pass pre-employment testing and physical

·        Ability to perform physically demanding work

·        Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; handle, grip, and reach above or below shoulders

·        Ability to use hands and feet to accomplish tasks as assigned

·        Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend/stoop, crouch, squat/kneel, twist at the waist and balance

·        Ability to work at elevated heights, i.e. portable ladders, fixed ladders, rolling platforms, etc.

·        Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and environments

·        Ability to work inside an office, outside, or in extreme temperatures

·        Ability to work with machinery vibration, power tools, moving objects, and slippery/uneven walking surfaces

·        Ability to work with others and interact with the public; perform under deadline pressure

·        Ability to operate equipment and drive a vehicle


Minimum Qualifications and Years of Experience



·        High School diploma or GED



·        Ability to obtain applicable qualifications required to perform job functions

·        Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with HAZMAT endorsement


Required Experience

·        Minimum of 5 years over-the-road CDL driving experience


Preferred Experience

·        Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV)

·        Mobile Crane
